This was my last oppertunity to go hiking for the 2008 summer season. School started in a few days and this was the first day where the weather beforehand looked decent. It rained the entire week before, and since I had to ford a river or two, I wanted to give the water time to drop, lest I end up in the same situation as Saddleback.

Unfortunately the weather changed in a matter of hours from "Clear skies and nice weather" to "Let's drop buckets of water all over the Adirondacks" Early reports say the storm dropped 7 inches of water. Because the bridge over the river is out, and crossing is only possible during low volume, my trip was effectively canceled. Everything north of Saratoga was thoroughly soaked and would take days to dry out. Looks like my hiking is done for the summer.

On the left is the radar report of what rolled through my area. There was so much lighting, so close, I thought at one point someone was taking pictures of my car. Oh, and Bolton Landing no longer has cell reception thanks to a well-placed strike.
