Giant Mountain, Keene NY
05/04/05

I decided to start on a new venture last week, and finally go up Giant. I heard a lot about it, hell even my father climbed it so it had to be worthy of my boots. I went alone as usual and the journey was quite exemplary. 2 words in my vocabulary have been completely re-defined. One being "wilderness" and the other one being un-mentionable here. I'll say it in my log, but I'm trying to clean the mountain pages up so people can use them for their own guides and such without my mouth offending them left and right.

The word that was completely re-defined, was Wilderness. I'm used to the Heart Lake area, also known as the "High Peaks Wilderness" It's mostly trees, with a stream here or there, and very few big boulders unless you're near the top of a mountain. Giant though... incredible. Streams, ponds, outcrops, boulders bigger then houses, dwarf trees, etc. It was a very welcome change from the ordinary terrain.
