Mount Marcy, Lake Placid NY

I wasn't exactly planning on going up this peak. I had my sights set on Phelps and Tabletop, BUT if the weather was nice, I was going to go to Marcy, to finally get a picture from the one peak on my list who never opened up to my camera. The trip was surprisingly easy for me, possibly due to my body being used to the trails, and how I was moving due to a vengeance, not only a goal.

The trail was (for the most part) pretty dry, with some little puddles and a few streams running right where they belong. I made it to the top, climbing the summit which was also dry. I took my pictures and started to come down, when nature hit me with a storm almost exactly similar to the storm I got it with on my first trip up there (Payback?).

The main difference for this trip up Marcy (other then I got a view) was I started at the South Meadows trailhead rather then the Loj. The trail from the Loj to the Dam is crowded with people; which destroys the tranquility and then the trail goes up and down so much you can get tired just hiking the first 2 miles. The "road" from South Meadows is a DEC maintaned road (built by the Army) to the interior outpost at the Dam. It does go up and down, but gradually and there are few if any people on it.
