Mount Marcy, Lake Placid NY
05/13/10

The end of an era for me, but maybe a start for another. My time in New York had been dwindling (with me actively counting down til my departure date) but there was always the unfinished business of the ADKs. I knew there wasn't enough time to complete my 46 and still be able to pack everything I own for my exodus; I decided to enjoy my last hike into the mouintains. This time though, I wasn't going alone. One of my accomplises had been wanting to come hiking with me for years, and our scheduals finally allowed it. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. It was a beautiful afternoon with the perfect temperature that you didn't need a jacket, but cool enough that you didn't sweat. No bugs, nobody else on the trail, no clouds. Reached the top a little late, and came back way after dark in a downpour. It was exactly the same as my first journey into the ADKs, and befitting of my companion.
