Nye Mountain, Keene NY

I've had an interest in climbing Nye and it's neighbor Street for some time for 2 reasons. #1 being that the trail is minimal maintenance (an it certainly showed) and #2 being that it is the farthest north for the Western High Peaks Region (in fact, just over Nye starts the Eastern Zone). The trail only goes to these 2 mountains so It wouldn't be like hiking to Marcy and talking to people going all over the Peaks. In fact, despite the trail register saying there were 2 other people heading to Street and Nye, and seeing their footprints... I never saw anyone else on the way up OR down.

Enough about Street, as I've given that peak its own page. The trail was the best part about going up to Nye. The sign says right at the start  "NO MAINTENANCE after this point" and they weren't kidding. Lots of blow down, herd trails, deathtraps and nature taking back the trail [which looks like it was once maintained in parts].
