Seeing as how its been almost 4 months since the last time I went hiking, I decided I'd go for it as soon as X-mas was over. But I got sick, so I had to hold off until now (being only 4 days until school starts back up). It was my first experience with winter hiking, and I'll probably do more of it in the future as it was enjoyable, despite the cold. The snow was high enough and compact enough to support my weight without snowshoes, which helped me cut down on the weight I carried, but with 3 layers of clothes on.... its kind of a mute fact.
